I was just wondering how i would go about getting free, common protection on my computer to prevent some common things from happening to my computer?

Kaspersky is something I use and love. I don't have any keys for you but it was totally worth the money.

Well chek for new updates regularly, if you want some more protection you can try comodo firewall.
