Squid Proxy - hunt3r972 - 11-02-2012 Hi, I saw that it's possible to set up a proxy with Squid to filter the network traffic between the computer and the internet I also saw that it's possible to set it up only for one computer (so the other computer on the network will not have to use it). I would like to know if it's a good way to be "anonym" on a network like a local network or internet. RE: Squid Proxy - resolvebug - 11-02-2012 Hi hunt3r972: No, one computer does not benefit from a Squid proxy. If you were to do that, your computer would less anonymous because Squid tracks and caches the websites you visit. Squid reinforces anonymity when a group of unrelated computers access a single Squid proxy from multiple locations. Regards, ResolveBug RE: Squid Proxy - hunt3r972 - 11-02-2012 ok so a proxy is useful if there are a lot of comp on it ? EDIT: After reading a little bit about proxies, I understood that it can't hide you on a network (so it can't hide you on the internet) but when you go to a website, this one can't know what's your IP (because the proxy server ask the webpage for you) so the webmastern, for example, can't know that you went to his website. Right ? RE: Squid Proxy - hunt3r972 - 11-18-2012 It was clear enough, thanks ^^ |
