[AutoIt]Installing and starting to code - 1234hotmaster - 09-03-2011 Well i don't know but some of you must have heard of the powerful language, AutoIt. What can you do with it? Almost anything!!! there is no limitations!
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
Ok lets get started! Download AutoIt3 ![]() Then install it Download SciTe4AutoIt3 Then install it Its the compiler. There is a SciTe in the autoit installation but this one has more features ;) Now right click on your desktop > New > AutoIt v3 Script Right click on the new file > Edit Script SciTe will open :epic: Lets start the coding! But first i should note another good thing about this language is that its not case sensitive :) MsGboX and MSGBOX and msgBoX are the same and will work ;) ok we are going to say hello world in a msgbox. MsgBox Parameters Button Flags: 0=OK Button 1=OK And Cancel 2=Abort, Retry, and Ignore 3=Yes,No and Cancel 4=Yes and No 5=Retry and Cancel 6=Cancel, Try Again, Continue Icon Flags: 0=No icon 16=Stop-sign 32=Question-Mark 48=Exclamation-point 64=Information-sign Default button Flags: 0=First button is the default 256=Second button is default button 512=Third button is default button Style Flags: 0=Application 4096=System Modal 8192=Task Modal Other Flags: 262144=Topmost msgbox 524288=Right alignd text and title For having a OK And Cancel style msgbox we would do the flag as "1" but if we also want a stop icon we do 1+16 for the flag  MsgBox command format is like this: Code: Msgbox($flag,$title,$text,$timeoutinseconds,$hWnd)Ok lets say hello world with knowledge we currently have :) Code: msgbox(0,"Title","Hello World!!!",5) ;0 for no icon and 5 for timeoutwe use ";" for comments. They will appear in green :D Now to execute the code in SciTe press "F5" ( for compiling to .exe press "F7" ) The msgbox will pop up! now if you have noticed in the button right a autoit icon will appear, in all autoit programs that will be active by default, you can disable it by typing: Code: #NoTrayIconWhats it used for? exiting unstable scripts like a fork bomb or pausing them =] Now if you don't press OK it will disappear in 5 secs and the program will close :D now lets try to msgbox the content of a variable. variables start with $ in autoit just like PHP  You can declare it by one of these ways: Code: Dim $somethingCode: Local $somethingCode: Global $somethingyou can also give a value to it and no need for declaring if it has a value Code: $something = ""Code: Dim $something= "Nothing here"Code: Local $something="Nothing Here"Code: Global $something="Nothing Here"now lets msgbox $something. Code: $something='hello world'
msgbox(0,"Title",$something,5)Strings can be either in " or ' it doesn't matter :) Code: $var = "zzz"Code: $var= 'zzz'You can read more info about the msgbox command in the help file ( its really the best help file i've ever seen :O ) for viewing it press "F1" while in SciTe i think its enough for the intro :D ill post If statements in my next thread, ofc if anyone likes this one :( RE: [AutoIt]Installing and starting to code - â - 09-04-2011 Wow nice one i learned all this off youtube (but you put more details then youtube) but still you put it in a way nicer format. Me on the other hand im new to forums and i dont know how to do those fancy box codes or those colored writing. RE: [AutoIt]Installing and starting to code - Jacob - 09-04-2011 hmm...autoit seems pretty simple!

People buying visual studio for 100's of $'s and spending lots of time on a very low advantaged language... XD but au3 is free and its really strong
RE: [AutoIt]Installing and starting to code - SPG.WoLF_TSC - 10-31-2011 Thanks, without this tutorial I never would try AutoIt3. Now I know, how powerful it is, but i don't understand it
