What's the best laptop to hack with? - NgativeZero - 09-02-2011 Hi, I just got a laptop, it's an IBM Lenovo Thinkpad R52, and was built for the Windows XP OS, but when I turn it on it says: NTLDR Is Missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del To Return It was working before, I got a new recharger for it, turned it on. It was working a bit slow, but working, then it froze when i tried to connect to the internet, so i forced the power off, tried to turn it back on and the message came back up. Is it fixable? If so, what do I do? If it's not fixable, can anyone tell me what Notebook/Netbook I should get? I'm thinking of a Dell Inspiron 1570 (15z) Sorry about this but I'm kind of a Neophyte. ![]() Or an Acer Aspire 1 Netbook. Anyone got any tips? RE: What's the best laptop to hack with? - Frooxius - 09-02-2011 Data required for booting were deleted or damaged. It's very easy and fast to fix though. Insert the Windows XP installation disc and get to the recovery console (usually by pressing R once you get to the option screen), if you don't have installation disc, then you'll need to burn a recovery disc at some other computer. Then type "fixboot" (without quotes) and press enter. You might also try "fixmbr" when you're at it, I'm fairly sure MBR wasn't touched, in which case nothing bad happens, if it was, it gets restored to proper state too. RE: What's the best laptop to hack with? - Frooxius - 09-02-2011 Well I guess your laptop doesn't have floppy drive and since you apparently don't have the installer disc, you can try one of many rescue CD's: http://www.ubcd4win.com Download the ISO and burn it. Then boot from this disc and use the Boot Build tool to repair your boot data. RE: What's the best laptop to hack with? - mothered - 09-03-2011 Further to Frooxius' post above, If It's not done so already, make sure the optical drive Is set as the first bootable device In the BIOS. You can use this freeware tool to burn the Iso to disc: http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-11673524.html Also, If you need a copy of Windows XP, just shoot me a PM.
