3DS Max Keyboard Shortcuts - Coder-san - 12-13-2010
Key Shortcuts
ViewPort (The 3d environment you see inside. Gray by Default)-
When in ViewPort
- Alt + B ViewPort Background (Only available on viewport, invisible on output)
- Alt + W Show All 4 Active Views at once (Useful when you need accuracy)
- B Bottom View
- Ctrl + C Add Camera at current Location
- C Camera View (If you have a Camera object on ViewPort)
- F Front View
- G Enable/Disable Grid
- H Select from Scene
- L Left View
- M Material Editor (Material Editor is your best friend)
- O Ornithographic View (Pretty useless, I recommend not to use it)
- P Perspective View (Default, the best, and the most Professional view)
- T Top View
- Z Zoom In on Selection
Basic Tools
- Q Selection Tool
- W Move Tool
- E Rotate Tool
- R Scale Tool
Selection Shortcuts
- Space Selection Lock
- Delete Delete Selection
- Ctrl + I Invert Selection
- Ctrl + R Rotation Gizmo (If you are too tired to Hold Scroll for long)
- Alt + Click Remove Selection (Press Q/W to perform)
- Ctrl + Click Add Selection (Press Q/W to perform)
- Shift + Move Clone Selection (Press W to perform)
- Alt + X See Through Selection (Press Q/W to perform)
Zooming and Panning
- MouseScroll Zoom In/Zoom Out
- MouseScrollHold +Move Move ViewPort
- Ctrl + MouseScrollHold +Move Fast Move ViewPort
- Alt + MouseScrollHold +Move Rotate ViewPort
- Shift + MouseScrollHold +Move Move ViewPort on Single Axis
- Ctrl + Alt + MouseScrollHold +Move Perfect Zoom In/ Zoom Out
- Ctrl + Shift + MouseScrollHold +Move Rotate ViewPort on Single Axis
Panel Shortcuts
- 6 Show Particle View panel.
- 7 Show Current Polygon Count
- 8 Show Environment and Effects panel.
- 9 Show Advanced Lighting panel.
- 0 Show Render To Texture panel.
The Function Keys
- F1 Show 3DS Max Help
- F2 Shade Selected Face (Face as in, Polygon's Face)
- F3 Switch between Smooth and Wireframe Display
- F4 Display Wireframe with Smooth shading together
- F9 Render Scene (See yourself how will the output appear)
- F10 Render Setup (Detailed Render Setup. Choose output options, etc.)
- F11 Show MAX-Script panel. (If you're a Pro this is what you are in most of the time.
- F12 Transform Type-In
Sub-Object Selection
- 1 Vertex
- 2 Edge
- 3 Border
- 4 Polygon
- 5 Element
