Invite Only Website - MawZ - 09-28-2014 Hi I wanted to ask where do I need to start to create invite only website like some websites has for example torrents that has special invite only websites. Also rewards that after every invite user gets some reward or something. Where would I need to begin to develop such thing not much experienced with this. RE: Invite Only Website - Adorapuff - 09-28-2014 What kind of experience do you have with php? You'd need to build a website with a login system, but instead of registration you would need an invite code or something as one of the inputs. RE: Invite Only Website - Xeru - 09-28-2014 Best way to go about this is to create it from ground up. Registration system and user management aren't incredibly difficult in PHP and MySQL, but they take some experience. Also depends what you're trying to make. A forum would be pretty difficult to create by yourself, so maybe at that point you'd be better off looking for an invite-only-registration plugin or mod for existing forum software. Anything like IPTorrents would be better off built from ground up, rather than mutilating an existing CMS to fit your needs. RE: Invite Only Website - Oni - 09-28-2014 We did that with MyBB and it sucked. Not a recommended model. I don't know how to, but you can pay people who do. Require a special key during registration that only people with this "key" can use. Of course, it's only used once, so you just remove it from the database for access with it. As far as awards, assign a specific ID that holds the information in a database and add an "awards" table record to the users table, then give the award ID to members who you want to have that award. Of course it's much more complicated than that, depending on what you want to do with these functions, but that's just a basic and quick "tutorial" on it. How about WordPress and Joomla I did found PHP Login System http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpinvite-only/ also How to http://culttt.com/2011/10/26/how-to-create-an-invite-system-using-php/ RE: Invite Only Website - Xeru - 09-28-2014 (09-28-2014, 07:18 AM)Oni Wrote: We did that with MyBB and it sucked. I had an invite-only forum running from MyBB for a few months, it actually went rather well after modifying the plugin to adjust registration and invitation to integrate it into the forum fully. By default you can't even tell who invites who in some plugins. I wish I still had the modified plugin, someone probably would've paid for it. Joomla is a joke. Wordpress's user management is horrid. Just have one built if you're very serious about making something successful. RE: Invite Only Website - pickle - 09-29-2014 I don't agree with the incentive of rewarding a user for getting an invite it makes it seem spammy. The reward to the user should be they get access to legendary content not something that has fairly any credit. Private content is one thing but the fact that you need to reward a user for the incentive to signup isn't very smartttttttttttt. Make the reward the fact that your content is high quality that should be your only incentive. |
