Silent Hills P.T. Looks Beautiful and Horrifying - MiS - 08-20-2014

Code:
It took 90 minutes for my friends and I to finish the playable teaser for the upcoming Silent Hills. There's no combat, no mechanics outside of walking around and looking at things, and the entire experience takes place in one environment. It's a self-contained "game" that only needs a single hallway to scare the shit out of you. How did this collection of mundane elements become so much scarier than most full-length horror games?

Have you guys heard of the new Silent Hills demo recently released on PS4? It's one of the best graphics I've seen in gaming hands down, which helps insanely with the immersion cast into this horror game. The game will be developed by Kojima Productions using the Fox Engine and is a collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro, featuring actor Norman Reedus. The trailer is playable, and one of the most horrifying ones I've seen, and it's scaring the living poop out of everyone who tries it.

I highly suggest you play it for yourself if you've manage to have a PS4 right now, but if you can't, here's IGN's Walkthrough of the first part of gameplay:

Part 2

Part 3

Some of the youtubers I'm subscribed to did some videos on it. If I had a PS4 I would definitely play it. I'm glad the new developers are taking advantage of the new console's better hardware.

If I had a PS4, I'd be playing the crap out of this game, it looks that good.

I love ambiance and mindfuck-y horror games and this fits right in. I think this was more of setting up story for Silent Hills than actually gameplay in the game. It has some good jumpscares and the audio engineering is great. I can pinpoint sounds and where they came from very easily. Which makes it even more terrifying.

Graphics: 9
Story: 5 (it's a demo and explains basic plot)
Scariness: 7.5 Could have more scares.
Mindfuck: 8. Some good mindfuck.

Man, now I'm really excited for this game. I heard that if you play the P.T. again, the gameplay should shift. Did you manage to make it to the end?

I couldn't get the actual ending because no one actually knows what exactly triggers it. but i did finish the game. I'll have to try it again and see what's up with the game shift.

From what I hear, you had to examine (zoom-in) to certain parts of the area, so that certain events will activate. If you get tired of the whole thing though, you can just look up IGN's walkthrough of it.
