3735883980 Here - 0xDEAD10CC - 03-01-2014 Hi, I figured I'd join a new forum after being a long time member of other forums for a while, but I haven't yet posted an introduction thread... I have a big interest in programming, and I've been a developer for some time too. I work with hardware and try to automate it through various interfaces (Serial/COM port, USB, Ethernet, etc...) and various protocols (RS-282/422/485, RF, IR, Zigbee, IP, Relay, DMX-512, NFC, etc...) to get equipment to do certain things involving mechanical movement, video displays, audio, lighting and lots more. I enjoy debugging, crash dump analysis, computer security, and lots of other things that involve computers in general. And for non-programmers (3735883980 = 0xDEAD10CC). :blackhat: RE: 3735883980 Here - Singularity - 03-01-2014 (03-01-2014, 04:11 AM)0xDEAD10CC Wrote: Hi, What languages can you code in? I've dabbled around in many, but there's only about 5 or 6 that I actively use on a daily basis. The list includes C/C++, Haskell, J, Powershell, Python, Perl, ASM, Batch, BASIC, C#, VB.NET, VBScript, PHP, Javascript, Lua, and Objective-C off the top of my head. Right now I'm working on a game, so Obj-C is in the mix, and I use Haskell from time to time for functional work, although... C, C++, Python, J, and C# are probably my main languages now, the rest I can read still, but the nuances I forget often because there's only so many languages you can *truly* learn and maintain a familiarity with. You can't really forget VB.NET since C# and VB.NET are so similar being that they both use the .NET framework. I can read lots of code though in languages that I've never even used before because of the range of languages that I have used and how similar their syntax is to many other languages. Haskell for instance gives me the ability to read other languages like Clojure and LISP somewhat, J is on it's own... But lots of languages are similar to C in terms of syntax. C++ at it's basic level can resemble lots of the same style of syntax as well, but because of how vast it is, there's some C++ code that wouldn't look much like most of the other languages it usually resembles syntax-wise. Other than my main languages out of that bunch... I still use Batch and Powershell from time to time, along with VBscript every once in a while, but really I don't concentrate much on them because Powershell alone is good enough to do pretty much everything that the other two can do. Then there's the proprietary languages that you guys will have never heard of that I use for automation. |
