Graphics Card Temperatures? - Nyx - 02-20-2014
So my GTX 780 Ti arrives in the mail tomorrow, and the first thing I am doing after hooking it up is hitting PrecisionX. So I was wondering, in your opinion, when overclocking, what is a safe temperature before I should turn down the clock speeds. I have been told not to go above 90C, and I have been told anything above 80C will damage the card after a few months use, so I just wanted a last few thoughts on what a safe max temp for my card to run is. Thanks!

Keep it below 80, or if it's unavoidable to do so don't break 90.

Those cards are rated to run (with a good lifespan) at around 94c
I wouldn't consider over clocking it without water cooling.

I keep my ATI 5850 HD at a cool 100 degrees.

I normally try to keep my stuff below 65c, maybe I'm paranoid? It's not that hard to slap a couple fans in there.

It's not just about temps which could damage your card when overclocking. Take care not to increase the voltage too high and only increase the performance of the card little by little. Why do you need to overclock the 780 Ti anyways? Is there any game which you can't run on Extreme Super High?

The 780ti is resilient as fuck. I have them in 4-way SLI, temps rise above 100 degrees and if anything, it runs better.
Had them for a while now, never had problems.

They should idle below 80 and peak at ~110 for maximum lifespan.
That being said, if you're overclocking you really should invest in better cooling.

Yeah as everyone else said just try to keep it below 80, because there is no need to overclock it...

I usually only run on a stock air cool fan and normally don't have any issues with over heating. I am too afraid to run a water system due to 1 mistake can cause major leakage lol but keeping it as low as possible is always preferred.
