Step 1. Find the product that you are going to SE, make sure it is something that is going to require this method to get a serial number or PID.
Step 2. Okay so we have the item we want, now we need to find someone with the product we want, preferably new or slightly used, a good place to check for these people are on ebay, craigslist, or even your local facebook "swapshop"
Step 3. Contact the person you found and ask them about the product they are selling, keep the conversation going for a while, DO NOT ask for the serial number up front, it will scare people away. After about 5 to 10 minutes of bull shitting, finally tell the person about how you purchased the same item about a week ago and tried to register the warranty and was told that the item had been reported stolen, simply ask them for the PID or the serial number because you "would like to check if it was stolen".[/hide]
