Dry Ice/Wrong item received method - Gertzerroz - 12-28-2024

Hey guys, I plan on doing a wrong item received. I ordered an expensive item and I claimed to receive a similar item that costs less however it's 2 pounds lighter. The company asked me to return the product. I plan to use dry ice to offset the weight during return shipping. Is dry ice still viable? Have shipping companies caught onto this? How should I package the dry ice so it's not obvious to the clerk receiving the package at the Fedex location.

Thanks, Gertz.

For this method, it is better to choose products with the same weight, but if the store has already allowed the return, there should be no problem. Using dry ice is not necessary; you can just put a lot of different types of packing material in the box. By the way, which store are you making?

AutoZone lol I don't think they get hit that often. I'll ship it out tomorrow then.

That's good news, hopefully wrong item received is even more convincing.

Dry ice is viable when the shipment is weighed at both ends. Be careful when packing, because without decent insulation around the dryice, condensation collects on top of the box. If there's condensation on the box, most shipping companies will flag the package as hazardous materials. Use styrofoam and plenty of packing paper.

Then leave the package at a shipping point before a weekend so the dry ice sublimates in storage.

Using dry ice to complement an existing weight isn't an ideal use of this method. More likely it'll go unnoticed and you're just wasting your time. Rather you find a product with an identical weight (from the same supplier) and WIR that way.

Or if DNA is viable, use that method. Much easier.

edit: On the other hand, if you intentionally use dry ice to force the shipment to RTS as "hazardous", that's an entirely different method and (legend says) works great with electronics.
