PayPal Dispute Return - SinisterLin - 06-05-2024

I'll make it short:

A friend of mine is currently in the middle of a PayPal dispute involving a relatively high-value item between $1k-2k. The seller has offered them a full refund if they return the item, which they're planning to FTID. The issue is that the seller did not provide them a return label; they have to use their own.

My friend is wondering if it'd be fine to create a shipping label destined to the address that the seller has provided and then FTIDv3 that label, since it seems unlikely that the seller is going to provide them with a return label. If anybody has any experience doing something similar we would really appreciate hearing from you about how it went.

No. Don't do that.

The reason FTID works is because the seller is responsible for the shipping.

Damn. I'm not entirely sure what's involved, but since PayPal is asking my friend only for the tracking number and a "copy of the shipping label used," probably simply to verify if the return has been sent to the address provided, I thought it would've been possible to win their case by FTIDv3'ng the shipping label.

Are there any other options available for them here or are they SOL? Just trying see what are the possibilities before they decide to legitimately return the item or to keep it.

Thanks for your response.
