Amazon Chargeback Question - starchytwink - 01-20-2024

Hi,

I am curious how risky are chargebacks with items that have a serial number. Is amazon to collect information from apple regarding whether a macbook or ipad was used? I have evidence that Amazon didnt deliver my package correclty but I am worried that amazon has proof that I used the item.

RE: Amazon Chargeback Question - HeardIt - 01-20-2024

why would you go straight down the chargeback route? why would you not claim DNA?

RE: Amazon Chargeback Question - starchytwink - 01-20-2024

That failed already & returning it is not possible due to partner immature unboxing.

fight the DNA if you have proof of them not delivering correctly.

they will respond to the chargeback and close your account

Amazon won't do that. You will win your chargeback.

Even if Amazon does contact Apple, and Apple informs amazon the device is switched on, there's no proof it's you. The parcel is DNA, remember? The person who stole it turned it on, not you!

As for right now, tell your partner to turn it off until the chargeback is complete.

It's just signed into apple id and stuff and that apple ID has been signed into my iPad at some point so worried about that. But I guess you're right. I'll file for chargeback and shut it down until it passes. Any idea if using it afterwards is ok? I'm worried that the serial number is reported stolen then I should sell it instead.

Sorry for the late response. Remove the linked Apple ID and shut it down until the chargeback is complete.

If the ipad is WiFi only you have nothing to worry about. Using it afterwards is fine. If the ipad is cellular they may block any sims but it should still be usable, just without 4g/5g.

You can sell but you need to tell the seller its blocked. That being said sometimes Amazon doesn't report it as stolen.

Ah damn idk why i forgot to sign out before shutting down and now it won't let me sign out without reconnecting to internet & I already started the process so I think it's probably best to not connect & keep it shut down?

Thanks for the help. Will update you.

It's not too late. Sign out asap. Then turn it off until chargeback complete.
