Faking a PR - SpIKeR - 11-28-2023 Has anyone here faked a PR or do they call the police department to check it? I never did PR's before for obvious reasons but it got me thinking if I just have the right setup where no ifo can be linked to me a PR shouldn't be a problem. What do you guys think? RE: Faking a PR - Elsdebo - 11-28-2023 'Mothered' was convinced that amazon have no business checking the PR. Police doesn't work for amazon. Or for any other online shop. It is a scare tactic, and one to inconvenience you. Also, with a DNA you never received the package, you never took ownership of the package, so how could you have to file a report if nothing was stolen from you but from amazon. I'm not sure if you can weasel your way out of it to ask your police station to make the report in the name of amazon. (They won't I'm pretty sure). And when the police refuses, you can ask to put this refusal on paper, and then send this refusal paper to amazon. Not sure if amazon will accept this either. And it depends on your countrys laws. RE: Faking a PR - starchytwink - 11-28-2023 it might depend on region and value i think. I have heard of people faking Prs and no one checking, i have heard of people faking PRs and putting a fake phone number on the PR to then pretend to be the PD (i would highly advise against this but i am not experienced, i just know faking a police department is probably grounds for serious action against you, while a false report can’t really be investigated and a fake report would at most cause them to ban you but not risk legal trouble yknow) my experience is when i had an aged account and used to buy stuff from amazon all the time, on my 3rd high value refund they asked for a PR and they called to check it is real, told me it isn’t, and i had to call them again and check why they thought it was fake, turns out they called the wrong pd, i had to guide them to the correct site (literally asking them to google the pd in my city and calling the number) & they confirmed it was real, refunded me then ofm closed the account. You are right but certain companies like Dell and Amazon don't care about breaking the law and will require you to file a report if you want a refund. Hopefully some media outlet will soon take this issue further as requiring a police report for a claim is just breaking your consumer rights and breaking the law. RE: Faking a PR - Blazealways - 11-29-2023 Why would you bother making a fake police report? Remember, you ordered something from a company and didn’t receive it. File a PR online with your local police and stand your ground. For one, police have a million better things to do and they will never contact you about this, I promise. If they do contact you, just tell them your story. RE: Faking a PR - SpIKeR - 11-29-2023 (11-29-2023, 01:14 AM)Blazealways Wrote: Why would you bother making a fake police report? Well because if you create an account on amazon under a different name and use different payment method you can't really go to the police and pretend that you are the person who created the second or third or etc account. |
