paypal unauthorized transaction help - Lgff - 05-18-2023

I was about to order something on my virtual machine with a vpn etc. but as I put in my password into paypal during checkout. I had to confirm to paypal it was me by putting in a code they sent to my phone number.
I was wondering if I can still claim that it was an unauthorized transaction after I put in the code from my phone? If i decide to do that, do i claim to customer service I got sim swapped or perhaps lost my phone? Any help would be appreciated.

Well your case is a lot weaker now., someone knew your password and had access to your phone?

Because if they grant UA for this they would have for everyone. You might succeed but it will take a lot of escalation and depends on your PayPal account history.

Yeah I was hoping there was way to get around this verification but I guess I should have never linked my phone number for it to not ask for otp

Does anyone have a method of bypassing this verification? So the UA actually becomes believable? Or should I tell them that I fell for a scam where they got my otp and logged in my PayPal? How credible would that be?
