Successful CPU "SE" - raqula - 05-10-2023

Here's a fun little fairytale.

Purchased 2 items from the same brick and mortar retailer: a streaming device in person and an i9 processor online. Once I received the processor, I removed it from its box (it's the style where you cannot see the cpu) very carefully as the box is sealed with its barcode as a sticker. Once out, I laid the seal back down, and pulled out some fun specialty equipment: A heatgun, an impulse sealer, and a heat shrink bag.

Sealed that little blue box right up, making sure I got it looking as crisp as could be. Now notably, it doesn't come factory sealed, but I'll get why I did this later. With a bit of packing tape I resealed the box it was shipped in, and was ready to go.

I headed to customer service to recollect my shekels. This is where the streaming device comes in. I first returned the factory heat-shrunk streaming device. This was to test the agent to see how they handled a sealed electronic device. Knowing they didn't open the streaming device I could make a somewhat reasonable assumption they wouldn't open the processor box. I then made a bit of a show opening the shipping box with a key to really make it seem the box had never been opened. From there I returned the processor, giving whatever reason for needing to return it.

And bing badaboom, I now have a processor that I can't use! Those motherboards are expensive yo.

I assume you mean you returned both items in a physical store?

Entirely so!

Out of paranoia I'm keeping that hidden, but the steps I took were in effort to sus out them opening products before handing over the processor.
