do companies actuallky do this?

What do you mean by boxes are we talking network traffic stuff or legitimate boxes because yeah network traffic does get stamped with ids that can be used to trace you

To justify measures like that I think the amount they were losing to SE would have to be something silly like 20% of their annual profit or more and even then it would easily circumvented. We would just have do like the DN vendors and start using gloves / sanitized work areas to perform our SE's. Sounds kinda fun actually TBH haha I'll take any excuse to boost OPSEC just for the fun of it.
