Help with Oakley SE - Robbinhoodd - 03-28-2023

Hi, I recently saw a thread by @Spatialize regarding a successful Oakley SE, so I decided to try my luck as well for a pair of sunglasses. When I got the case out of the box, I noticed that the case was not fully zipped, there's about a 5 cm gap. I wonder if this implies that they have began checking the items carefully before shipping, and it would complicate my EB claim?

I actually ordered two by accident and the other one has a legitimate delivery problem, where I had to reroute it because they couldn’t cancel my order and it was going to the wrong address, and they kind of admitted their fault by giving me a 30% off coupon. So I wonder if I should piggyback them off of each other or leave the issue with the other one out of the conversation.

I could try a DNA since this one was delivered without my signature, but Oakley says they aren't liable for shipments LIT, which I am sure they will try to use that excuse, and the shipment was delivered by DHL, which is one of the carriers that look through cases more carefully.

Try your luck at EB.

It will complicate It to the point of failure.

Oakley definitely don't have CCTV cameras In place but to make sure they don't check goods at the time of packing, simply perform a practice run/trial SE.

What's the exact statement In their terms?

"For customers in U.S. Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, etc.), the product will need to be packaged and shipped via a carrier that will provide insurance and tracking capabilities. Oakley Customer Care is not responsible for any packages or products lost in transit"

Upon further inspection, this is under the "returns" section so I assume it only applies if I try to box them. Since you mentioned theres no CCTV, I image both EB and DNA is their word against mine, it just a matter of whether I want to get the carrier involved, and how that would affect my chances.

I DNA'd them a month ago with no issue. Rather, they assumed it was a DNA when I'd said it was an EB, but they refunded me either way.

I would still try the EB, because that's always been the reliable method.

I just had a successful DNA too. They seem relatively lax at the moment. I think EB or DNA has a high success rate. You should be fine whichever you choose.

What was the value of your glasses ? Thinking of hitting another retailer with EB but not sure what the ceiling price should be.

@EquitableEngineer Not sure if you saw the update, but the EB was successful. They were ~300 CAD not including taxes. I feel like I can get a good idea of limits/methods by looking at SE services lists? What do you think?

Thanks for info, yeah good idea. You could also just flat out ask refunders what the limit is if they dont have it listed. Its in their best interest to tell you.

Mine was a DNA. Over 400. Less than 500. Cool
