Arrested - Craigtheboss - 02-20-2023

What are the chances of the police getting involved and possibly being arrested when performing SE like dna or eb , does anyone have any knowledge on this ?

RE: Arrested - J23GBP - 02-20-2023

If you're worried about getting arrested for Social Engineering then you shouldn't be doing it. You have to remember that what you're going to do is illegal, and with that is the possibility of consequences.

I appreciate the reply but this is not what I was asking , I was asking if anyone had any experience or stories related to this

Quite frankly, their response was a good answer to your question.

"What are the chances of the police getting involved" - no one can answer this with any real certainty or statistics. There are far too many variables at play in any given SEing situation with any given SE-er to draw conclusions that will apply to every situation.

It is always possible that law enforcement may - or can - get involved in some capacity, and that is because, like has been said, SEing - as you're describing here, anyway - is illegal.
Crimes committed always have the capacity to be dealt with by law enforcement, that's just the nature of the game. If you have to ask "what're the chances of the police getting involved" you are probably better off not SEing, because you are asking the wrong questions, and you're looking at it from a far too "simple" angle - it's not "what are the chances" it's "how do I dial in my OPSEC so I am as far disconnected as possible from these activities, should someone look into them."

Has law enforcement ever gotten involved in relation to SEing? Sure they have.
But for what reason, in connection to what specifically, how they were tipped off/came to find it, what law enforcement agency specifically, what charges were brought/what the eventual outcome was, etc. are all variables that make it hard to look at it and apply it to every SEing situation.
I would hazard a guess that a good deal of cases where LE has gotten involved regarding SEing, the person SEing was likely not being very "smart" or "careful" and didn't have their OPSEC locked down properly. Or perhaps other crimes were involved, and the SEing activity was connected later.

If you're being "safe" and doing everything "smart" the chances should be relatively low, but that is assuming you're covering all your tracks, being careful in the right ways, and don't find yourself with a watchful eye on you for any other reasons.

To speak to your exact wording - "possibly being arrested when performing SE like dna or eb" - it is extremely unlikely you would ever find yourself being arrested when performing DNA/EB. As in, no, an officer of the law is not going to bust into your home while you're live-chatting with Walmart and cart you off - assuming they didn't already have a reason to be coming for you, and the timing was just hilariously poor, of course.
While the chances are very low that moderate SEing activity like this will ever come back on you or catch the eyes of "the powers that be" it is still very much a possibility to consider. Just because it "doesn't happen often" that we here of, and seems "highly unlikely" based on what we know of law enforcement and how hard it would be to connect a lot of these SEing activities, at the end of the day it is still a crime, and there is always a risk involved. The second you think "well, the odds are so slim, this is pretty safe, I don't have to really worry" is the second you slip up just enough to put yourself on someone's radar.

RE: Arrested - ruonis55 - 02-20-2023

The stores that can get you caught are the smaller ones or the ones that in the past already did some investigation thing and cooperates with police. Also., it depends on the country. I know that backmarket uk (I'm not from there, but I have friend who lives there and does SE) is doing investigations with the police, if you do anything with the tracking, they will require some personal information and even a photo ID, proof of address and police report to get a refund. And there is a high chance that you would be just reported to the police. But you have to be dumb to give this information if you see that you are screwed. Doing SE you have to keep your private information for yourself and don't put it into every site you do SE, because it would be the easiest way to get like "arrested" if there was any chance. But DNA/EB is getting harder to do because of the need to get a police report to get a refund for it. So it's more a chance to you would get bored of going to police station or their online website to fill a form that you had your parcel stolen every time. Then you would get caught doing SE.

There are no predictable odds on this, it is a dice roll. The more you do it the more heat you draw. If you don't finesse it carefully enough and the odds it comes back to bite you in the ass increase significantly. SEing is not foolproof. People do this at their own risk and are willing to risk the danger to take a chance. If you have the balls to do it then try it. But you should be operating with the knowledge that this is not legal and not something you can do with impunity. If you are a scared little bitch: play it safe and pay for your shit like everybody else. If you lack fucks to give like so many of us on here: do what you think you can get away with, but always be aware of the hazards. Man up or opt out. Your choice.

What you are saying about opsec makes no sense as in some se’s you have to use your own information, falsifying things like a vcc will more than likely get you into more trouble than the Se itself , I can understand if you mean being careful as in keeping your story in line and sticking with it but it most cases falsifying information will land you in bigger situations

I personally think you should reword how you talk to people better given the fact you have no clue about SEing and most of your posts are about asking for help or telling your fake stories

Also just to clarify I never said “what are the chances of the police getting involved” I asked if anyone had any relevant or personal stories relating to police being involved or a situation where the investigation was far from normal. Also to reiterate my previous reply 90% of SE’s are used using real information as it’s easiest to play off of as you can blend in as a usual customer running into a problem.

RE: Arrested - BetterThings2 - 02-20-2023

@Craigtheboss. Common sense does wonders, especially with regards to se'ing. First off some "methods" draw a lot of heat just because of the nature of it, like FTID and it variations. Other times it's when people don't use common sense to maximize plausible deniability with their se's, like fools who box Amazon by sending back dirt, or the one idiot who put incendiary devices in his mail packages in a retarded attempt to apply the LIT method. If both of those dummies used dry ice instead, it's a high chance that they would not be in jail right now.

So as long as you use common sense and don't do greedy dumb shit like trying to dna three macbooks at one time, and put some space between your se's the chances of cops at your door is low because no cop cares about some company getting finessed out an Ipad every now and then, they have way better things to focus their time and resources on.
