What's the best processor, Intel or AMD - FluffyFriendly - 08-25-2013

Hey guys, I'm soon going to upgrade my PC, but I want to know what's best before I make my decision. Intel or AMD(my current one is Intel i7 2600k)
Any thoughts?

You have an i7, why upgrade...? Anyways, it depends on what you want to do tbh. But if price isn't an issue, just go with Intel.

With an Intel i7, there aren't very many things to upgrade to. I'm sure there are other parts in your PC that could use upgrading. Tongue

But, if you're intent with upgrading your processor, either AMD or Intel would be fine. AMD usually has the same power, but for a cheaper price, although people claim Intel is more reliable.

AMD has nowhere near the amount of power an Intel processor has. (I'm an AMD fanboy)

To be honest, hyperthreading pretty much kills AMD's competition. That allows two simultaneous executions on each core, meaning your amount of logical cores is doubled by the amount of physical cores.

Why do you want to upgrade from an i7, they are one of the best processors out (My opinion), they are reliable and fast.

I would choose intel any day, its just whether money is an issue or not

Intel is more reliable than AMD, however AMD is cheap and has decent power.
Go with AMD if you're on a low budget.

That CPU is good enough for most things these days.

If you really want an upgrade though, chances are it'll come with a motherboard upgrade also due to socket changes.

You'll come far with a AMD Bulldozer in a budget build. And when you get the money, you may upgrade! Tongue
