Meta Quest 2 Fail? - brr45 - 01-28-2023
Hi
Started an Empty Box SE on the 13th, I did exactly what a lot of people here have done with success: claimed EB, send pictures of empty brown box, didn't turn the device on
I waited for 2 weeks and got this e-mail today:
"Hello name,
Thank you for giving us time to complete our review.
Our team has been doing an in-depth investigation into this matter and we’ve been unable to find any potential concerns linking back to the courier.
During our investigation, we’ve also discovered a lot of deliveries being reported as missing or opened from prior orders that were placed from your area.
While we won’t be able to issue a refund or replacement for this claim, this is a serious issue that needs to be handled by your local authorities. Please contact them as soon as possible to open a case.
If they would like to get in touch with Meta Store Support to work with our security team, please have them contact us through their official government email.
Thank you for your understanding,"
It sounds like a fail or them asking for a PR, but I can't do it because I'm currently travelling and I already filed one for another SE recently. As I'm not home I can't even return it. Think I got any options here or it's a definitive fail?

If you performed the SE like you say then this could well be the beginning of the end for this method, it had to happen eventually. It is interesting that they say:
'During our investigation, we’ve also discovered a lot of deliveries being reported as missing or opened from prior orders that were placed from your area.'
I mean WTF has that got to do with you ? Only thing I can think of is someone who lives near you or in your building has been rinsing the method. If I were you I would probably remain adamant that you have not received anything but an empty box. Maybe if all else failed you could tell them that you asked for PR but they refused as they do not deem it to be a crime.

I claimed the same EB on the 18th (UK). I am still waiting for a response from Meta's investigation.
Wondering if this is the end of this SE's streak and if I should cancel and return mine now.
Does anyone know if it is likely you can still return an item the normal way in the future after getting a similar^ refund denial?

Yes, it looks like the end of easy SE with them, and I think the "near your area" thing is just the generic bullshit we will get now when trying to EB a Quest
I'll try to argue with them as I can only do that now, but it will probably be a fail

Thanks. I have sent a few messages. Along with telling me to wait, they have said a lot of things like:
'As a fellow consumer, I do understand where you are coming from and it's valid to provide a feedback. We acknowledge your request for this to be resolved the soonest possible, hence, we do not stop in locating the Meta Quest 2 you have ordered. However, please understand that we have a process to follow in which investigating your case further since on our warehouse; we have packed your order and handed it over to the courier for shipping.
After your ticket was brought to our attention, we started the investigation right away and reviewed the case on our end as well as with the courier. I want to extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience, it's not our usual standard as we also want to deliver the order at your doorstep without any delays. That's why we are continuously investigating what may have happened during the shipment of the Meta Quest 2 headset.
I can assure you that we are actively coordinating your case with our logistics team, and we will get back to you as soon as possible with more details. Therefore, if you could give me a little more time while we check into this further, I would highly appreciate that.'
What is the best way to back out if it fails?

If you have not used it and said 'my housemate took it out of the box and has been using it the whole time and I only just got it back and want to return it' then they could see that the device had not been activated and your story would fall through.
