Hotel refunding - azocines - 01-28-2023

Hi,

Since months I see on many websites lots of services of hotel refunding.

Usually they work with Hotels.com, Expedia.com... and they refund part of the price you pay for the hotel stay.

After few researches, I saw that Hotels.com has a price guarantee, here is what they said about it :
"If you find a cheaper, publicly available rate, including one listed on Hotels.com, we will offer you the difference in your original method of payment or a Hotels.com coupon"

Have you any ideas about how people that sell those type of services do, in order to get big refund on each hotel order ?

Thanks

I would be interested if anyone has any experience SEing hotels in general, because that seems very difficult to me. It's not like you can say it wasn't you who was there, and they got the guests mixed up, or there was an imposter there in your place as you were indisposed and as a result were somehow unable to attend.

Tell them there was urine on the bed (which was noticed towards the end of your stay), and would like to be compensated with a refund.

Urinate on It yourself as evidence. Disgusting, but It works.

Ok, thanks.
Who must I contact for refund after doing that ? The hotel itself or the platform (for example Booking.com) ?

The booking platform.

The booking platform.

Ok, must I send them the picture of the urine on the part of the bed ?
Also, based on your experience, what is the "easiest" platform to SE with this method ?

They will advise on the requirements.

No method works 100% without fail on a consistent basis.

The booking platform.

Had contact with booking on two seperate cases and they are not like paypal that they force the hotel to refund you.
They act as an intermediary and "work" with the hotel, to give suggestions on how much to refund you.
In one case the shower was dirty/had quite severe mould, the countertop was not clean (looked like some white liquid hadn't been wiped away properly.
They were provided pictures and the most the scummy accomodation were willing to offer was 10%.

There was another case were the room wasn't ready as the cleaning room were still working on it.
The code to the room and main entrance did not work. The support for apart hotel was only via the phone and they were willing to do nothing for us, despite the fact we were three hours delayed. We spent money calling the company as well as booking.
The conclusion was that we got the stay refunded, so we could book something else and eventually by fighting for it and escalating we get the money for the phone bill refunded.

In conclusion those scenarios were not as serious as the urine but booking is not 100% on the customers side, even when they receive shitty service and conditions. They can help you but you have to call their paid numbers and send multiple emails, so yea not easy, even in genuine cases.

Been curious about expedia as I read here that it was the service that was refunded the most. The thing is the prices are higher than booking and on other places, you have to pay $300 for a nice room, so it is quite a big investment on a stay that might not be refunded.

Always wondered about this, @mothered isn't it strange for the hotel that they never receive such a complaint from the guest and only through the platform in severe cases? I would imagine that they would try to use this as an excuse not to pay or that the complaint is not valid.
Personally I would not want to go to the length to make or do the worst complaints directly to the staff just for a chance to get a refund.

If you pee on the sheets it should be the morning when you are checking out, otherwise it is going to stink Biggrin
