Hi,
I wanted some input... this is for a failed refund attempt by refunder.
the refunder stated the refund might work because it was a scheduled delivery but the basic version that was left in the driveway. however, upon requesting labels the items are too heavy to return normally and has to be sent back via freight company.
can I keep the item and replace it with something of similar weight? I bought the plastic straps and tensioner that companies use to package heavy items and it should look like factory.
also what are the repercussions if homedep0t finds out the item was switched? can I claim the freight company workers did it?

i've been doing research on the home depot associates subreddit and apparently they get alot of items replaced in boxes and they just refund it anyways... this may be different though since it is freight.

refund was not declined. but instead, the refund failed because we could not get shipping labels and instead have to request for shipping company to come pick up the items. and that is the cause of the failed refund attempt as the refunder stated he can no longer help with it.
therefore, I am trying to salvage it by at least switching out the item but not sure if there are law breaking consequences if switched item is found.

don't do it for items that require special carrier. i believe we thought we could complete a refund on it because it was the "scheduled basic delivery" package that did not require a person present and instead they drop it off without signature. and they actually dropped it off in the STREET at 6AM! i didnt get to it until 9am. lucky no one took it

probably do-able as stolen if only one item... but mine was multiple.

You've simply made a mistake with the Item - human error Is Inevitable, and cannot be held against you purely for that reason.
