Is it just to file and document something that happened with no further investigation on the police side?what SE method did you use to be asked for a PR, if you did EB then most likely the police will just send you a follow up email with stuff regarding your case and details to give to the company furthermore the police wont investigate too much since they have bigger issues. p.s this is what happens in the uk im not sure about north america

Long story, but I had a genuine Police report a year ago after an amazon driver stole our goods and assorted my wife after I took his van keys and demanded our goods. 3 police cars arrived and arrested him and found about 20 opened items (ipads phones laptops and headphones) and no addresses or envelopes.
My wife had a call a couple of days later asking if she wanted to go to court over it.
This was an extreme case, and nothing really came of it..

In terms of describing the Incident (for example with the DNA), don't provide anymore details than you need to - simply say you didn't receive your package.
