SE'ing an ssd on Amazon via swapping? - NotTorterra - 12-11-2022 So I'm a noob and honestly not too sure if I can handle a DNA so I had a question for something a little easier. I felt like I read about this method a while back but I couldn't find it, which is why I'm here now. I want to SE a more expensive 4tb ssd from Amazon and was wondering if I could just buy a 500gb model of the same brand (Crucial P3 plus) from bestbuy (initially thought amazon from the same account but I'm pretty sure that might raise flags?), then just swap the drives and return the "4tb ssd" back to Amazon. Would this work? Are there any other caveats/things I'd need to do? I can't really think of anything else apart from maybe swapping the stickers on the ssd's so that it looks like I returned the 4tb ssd. I can't imagine they actually install the ssd to a test bench to check the storage. Thoughts? How much is the item for? Is it shipped and sold by Amazon? Both variations of ssd's are available in Bestbuy and Amazon for the same prices (500gb-$35 and 4tb-$250). The Amazon one is sold and shipped by Amazon. Looked it up on Amazon and I see it comes in a box...sealed item method would work as long as you can put it in the plastic wrapping as it was. This should work perfectly. You can also do the wrong item method for 100% success too. If I wanted to try the wrong item method, I would have to buy the cheaper ssd from amazon with another account right? Or could I get the cheaper ssd from BestBuy and return that? RE: SE'ing an ssd on Amazon via swapping? - InternetRockStar - 12-11-2022 What is the weight of the item? Is it visible from the exterior? Does the ssd have any identifying information that could screw you over? not sure if they check For this I believe someone swapped a cpu a while ago too RE: SE'ing an ssd on Amazon via swapping? - Ordnael92 - 12-12-2022 (12-11-2022, 08:27 PM)NotTorterra Wrote: I can't imagine they actually install the ssd to a test bench to check the storage. There've been cases where they actually did that and rebilled the SEer months after the SE had been performed. It's up to you whether you wanna test your luck or not. Since it is an expensive item, this is 100% def a possibility. Wrong item method seems to be the best here. |
