List of stores where the sealed box method still works? - Rogue Refunder - 12-11-2022

Hopefully by now everyone reading this is aware that the sealed box method doesn’t work at Amazon or Apple anymore. However it still works at Best Buy.

Where else does the sealed box method still work in December 2022? I’m curious about these stores in particular:

Walmart?
Target?
Sam’s Club?
Costco?

(The social engineering would be taking place in person rather than by mail if that matters)

@mothered your input would be greatly appreciated.

You're pretty safe with Best Buy - they tend to only look If the seal(s) are Intact, and don't open and Inspect the contents.

Costco checks returns. Walmart and especially Target, don't. I haven't dealt with Sam’s Club.

I have read on Reddit that Staples is supposed to check returns on tech items, at least in-store, but it doesn't always happen.

Most chain stores have subreddits that are mostly used by their employees. They can be a useful way to find out how these stores operate. /r/Staples /r/Gamestop, etc.

There are many groups discussing social engineering.
