I'm guessing they got in contact with someone that works at Amazon / UPS / Walmart / whatver, and that guy is approving refunds without asking for additional investigations
Or, more likely, they found a bug in the system that allows to flag the order as "ok for refund". which is why they're usually asking for your login infos
