Do you think I could get away with a DNA with Apple for an upgraded RAM macbook with an account that's 5+ years old with multiple legit purchases?

Do you think I could try the Apple 'one-time' exception thing if they give me hell or is it too high value an item for that to work?

Correct, they tend to release themselves from liability and ask you to deal directly with the carrier.

Requesting a one-time exception Is a different approach altogether.
