Amazon.AU SE issue - Wedonotcare - 09-28-2022

They are requesting a statutory declaration. Value ~$1800. Advice? Thoughts?

Method: DNA, Driver took photo but did not get signature (which was stated was required).

I dont know if the document is legally binding in australia, but it might only be needed to proceed with the claim.

It must be signed In the presence of a Justice of the Peace to make the document legally binding, so on Its own, go ahead and sign It.

What did the photo contain?

Just a photo of the box at my door. Are you sure a stat dec isn't legally binding in Aus?

Thanks.

What makes the stat dec legally binding? Why does the justice of the peace differ from a medical practitioner? Just curious!

A Justice of the Peace Is a magistrate/judicial officer of a court, hence has the power to deem a document legally binding.

A medical practitioner Is self-explanatory.

Am I not creating a legally binding document by declaring something? Thanks for the explanations btw I really appreciate your feedback.

What you declare Is Immaterial. If I scribbled/declared something on a piece of A4 paper stating I didn't receive my goods, does that make It legally binding?

It's the nature of the document Itself and (where applicable) a legal authorized witness, that makes It legally binding.

You're most welcome.

Ok, but its not just a plain a4 paper that im writing myself. I have to print out an official state of vic template and write in my declaration on that form.
