Why I'm not going back to Alcatraz prison. - Mafia - 08-13-2013
Hello,
As some of you may know Alcatraz prison is open to the public and it is a lot of trouble to get there. There is 4 ways of getting tickets:
1. Queue up:
Queuing up for Alcatraz is a pain in the ass! They only sell 150 tickets on the day and you have to be there in person to get the tickets. Me and my girlfriend went there at 5am and I dropped her off to park the car and she was supposed to stay in line, I was looking at different cat parks so I could save money (it costs $30 got the whole day parking). Little did we know that they didn't let her in because I wasn't there. So we came back the next day. They set us back $60 and an extra $14 for parking.
2. Package site seeing:
This is the worst way to try to get tickets to Alcatraz. The reason being that only 150 tickets are sold in line is because they sell the others off to companies when you have to buy their multi-ticket to obtain the tickets. I was going to do this but I tried again the next day. For biking across the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz it was $99 per person.
3. Booking via the website:
Another way to get tickets on the day is booking from their website.
All I'm going to say is good luck! The tickets are booked up months in advance.
4. Craigslist
I haven't tried this but it could be quite dangerous as some people try to scam you. I haven't checked prices but I assume they are expensive.
Although Alcatraz is a nice place to visit I won't go back there due to this hassle.

I had high hopes for this thread. I thought maybe you got lost there, or you have been haunted ever since. Or that you were a prisoner there back in the day. lol

Haha I'm not that old I did get lost there though and luckily it wasn't too far.

I went there three years ago.. didn't have to deal with any of that. There were definitely a lot more than 150 people per day.

Not many people can say that? They get a lot of visitors daily and California is a popular place for tourists.
