Hello everything is say in this post is hypothetical to portray a hypothetical situation with false information throughout.
The purpose is to educate.
This false story takes place in the United States and involves aspects that may not be legal.
Do not replicate this story.
Hello, i attempted to refund an item on eBay the price being in the range of 2-5k dollars. The way it happened was that i accidentally sent an empty box to the seller and the seller claims the label was edited the seller might be right in this situation but the rest of the story he is wrong. Unfortunately he reported me for fraud as in his eyes the edited label was a sign of this. This is hypothetical
So in an attempt to get him to close the report I sent the item back to him completely legit.
The seller is now claiming that he did not receive the item back, this is likely a lie but could also be a logistical problem as the business on eBay is quite big and may receive a large quantity of packages.
Regardless the seller is refusing to close the report and is claiming both were fraud packages.
This is a very serious issue for me due to the usage of real details in this process.
I would like to stress that this isn't a real situation but is a though exercise of what steps people would take if they happened to be in this situation.
Once again none of this story is real.
I appreciate any response i may receive.

This is why editing labels can be a very tricky business. It's purely luck based. If you wanted to scam the seller (Which is kind of frowned upon for small sellers) you needed to DNA the package. Why would you send him an empty box?

Hello it is me,
I did ask for proof i didnt send it and got no reply
Unfortunately i ended up folding under the pressure and said I would give up and stop contacting the seller as long as he closes the police report
Im scared because they do have the package with the edited label because it was collected from the post office
I have made sure to not admit anything illegal in my messages to the seller
This message is to add to this hypothetical situation and not presenting a real life situation.

The second time i sent the real item back but was told the seller didnt recieve this
