HP Spectre SE difficulties - Help - _Kenzo_ - 05-25-2022

Hey guys. I've managed to acquire a SN and raise a RMA for a HP Spectre worth £1400 (which I've wanted legitimately for a long time).
This is my first SN SE so already quite satisfied and surprised I've managed to get this far.

It however is booked for a collection with DPD, but as far as I know, the contents aren't inspected. The email instructions just say I am to be given a box and a label to package the item whilst the driver waits for me.
They only gave me 24 hours notice, and the collection was for today, meaning I couldn't order my dry ice in time. No bother, as I could tell the driver I didn't have the item in hand today, and I called HP to organise for Friday instead.
(going for friday so the package has more time to sublimate over the weekend). As long as my dry ice is delivered in time on friday, before the DPD driver arrives.

However here are the issue. Firstly, the driver arrived with a plastic 'swapbox' box and told me the item would go STRAIGHT in there. I'm not sure if this was a language barrier thing or miscommunication, but that would prove impossible. Ofcourse, I could still place the dry ice inside a cardboard box and re-tape it as one does with the boxing method, and if the driver questions the box I will just insist I am following HP's instructions and need the device in a cardboard box with bubblewrap for it's protection.

But secondly, I'm not sure if these 'swapboxes' are secured with a tag. I didn't see one, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are. Is anyone at all familiar with this process or seen it elsewhere? I'm hoping the swapbox plastic box is just purely a environmental thing. But if it's tagged, then surely there's no believable way my box would have been 'broken' into during the shipment process is there?
Do I just go ahead with it anyway, insist I shipped the item, and hope for the best?

Sorry for the lengthly post, but it's quite an interesting conundrum and would love to hear your guy's thoughts.

I'm a bit confused, aren't you going to have to use the swapbox? Plastic, like is it see-thru. I'm guessing, but it sounds like you have instructions to follow, what happens if you don't? Did you get an email from HP saying what to do?

Apologies. So the swapbox is a NON see-through storage box, similar to this:

I got an email from HP. detailing the following: "carrier will provide a Label and BOX to pack your unit, please STICK provided label on the outside of the box. To avoid issues in transit, please DO NOT use the unit’s original commercial box. The delivery service driver will WAIT for the defective device to be picked up."
"Please ensure you prepare your defective unit correctly. Also we invite you to view our HP Support Video for a summary of these instructions."
And they linked to these videos:

So seeing as those videos show a laptop being placed inside a cardboard box, I could try putting the 'laptop' in a cardboard box, to then put inside the plastic swapbox. If he refuses that or asks to check inside first I could just say I am following strict instructions and don't want to sway from them because of the item's value ect, tell him to come back the next day, then just call HP and cancel the collection all together.
I'll have lost £40 for some dry ice but that's it.

Edit: I forgot to mention, the email instructions also state they want the power cable too. So I have purchased a 3rd party cable which I was going pack and sacrifice alongside the dry ice, to add to the believability.

Thats a good idea, it will probably add credibility to your claim. Let's hope the whole dry ice is sublimated when package arrives at HP / being weighted.
