DNA in an apartment - Hawpe - 05-22-2022 Hello! I'm thinking of doing a DNA for a mid price item (500 euros) that I'm not sure would fit in my mailbox. My apartment complex is usually closed off to the public by a gate so from the moment I've been here, 90% of the time I get a call from Amazon delivery drivers asking me to let them in the complex/come down and meet them at the gate because for some reason they either can't open it or don't want to bother driving in the complex. The gate has been broken for a few weeks now and I'm thinking it's a good opportunity as I've received a few packages without any calls since then. However, they were always small enough to fit in my mailbox. My questions are: - What happens if the driver calls you and hand delivers you the package? - Sometimes, the driver will simply ask for my name before giving it to me. How am I supposed to DNA something like that? Seems impossible as I can't claim someone else knew my name *and* got down before me after the driver called me - If the package doesn't fit in the mailbox, it'll likely either be left somewhere in the hall (happened a few times, but never without my permission as far as I can remember), or left at a pickup point in a store. In that case, it also seems pretty unlikely that I could claim DNA since they'd check my ID Thanks. RE: DNA in an apartment - Hawpe - 05-23-2022 Quote:What's the Item description and weight? It’s the Synology DS920. Weight is around 2.2 kg and there’s a mention that the item will be in a revealing package - so the original packaging, and according to Amazon’s measurements it should fit in my mailbox but I’ve seen unboxing videos where the DS920 package is much bigger than the measurements given by Amazon. Quote:There'd be evidence of the call, but not of the package personally handed to you. Sure but then the driver would at least know who did it if an investigation were launched. Quote:Your name Is on the consignment, so whether or not you tell him, makes no difference to how the package Is marked as delivered. That’s right too but again, the driver would immediately know I’m lying if an investigation were launched. Quote:Is a copy of your ID taken, or Is It purely verified visually? They’ve never taken a copy of the ID, only checked visually. Cameras can be a problem though. It’s often either dropped at the post office or a nearby store. In the case of the post office I *always* have to sign and the packages are never in sight. Nobody could read my name on a package and claim it. Also sometimes I get a OTP by email when it’s dropped at a pickup spot, but I can’t remember if that’s when I specifically choose for it to be delivered there or after the driver can’t deliver it to my apartment. RE: DNA in an apartment - Slippery Slope - 05-23-2022 Great advice as I too live in an apartment. Keep us updated on this pls! Thanks for sharing details. RE: DNA in an apartment - Hawpe - 05-24-2022 I'm debating ordering a 4 TB M.2 SSD (599€) along with that. My reasoning is that it's very small and if the larger package fits in the mailbox then that one will too; but if the larger package doesn't fit then at least the smaller one will. RE: DNA in an apartment - LawDogUSA - 05-24-2022 I simply have a member of the opposite sex go down and get it. As I'm the only one who lives at my apartment, and it takes me a long time to get down to the entry, by then they are gone and I don't know if it was a mistake or what, but I didn't get my package like they requested or told me on the phone. Something along those lines. It's been a while since that happened but it either goes into a convenience store or the post office, depending on if Amazon itself or the local post office agency delivers the package. I get a OTP when I specifically ask the package to be delivered in an Amazon Counter (not Locker) if I remember correctly; though I think it's also happened that the delivery driver dropped it at the Amazon Counter when I was away and I had a OTP. It was a while ago so I'm not sure. (05-24-2022, 04:47 PM)LawDogUSA Wrote: I simply have a member of the opposite sex go down and get it.
