I had Amazon do this with my SE with them. It took a lot of back and forth on emails and finally got it resolved by emailing the Jeff Bezos email. Remain adamant.

Is there any obvious reason they are hard balling you? I'm guessing you used invisible ink, its possible the lit failed and they are aware.
