SE question - icecube13 - 03-27-2022

hello, can an unlocked carrier phone be blacklisted? for example if i perform an SE on amazon for a mobile device ( iphone ), if later they find out that the phone is not there, can it be blacklisted and be reported to the police?

RE: SE question - mothered - 03-27-2022

Although It's not common, there's always the possibility that the IMEI will be placed In a pool of blacklisted numbers.

Essentially, when you try to activate the phone with a given carrier, It will be locked (blacklisted) out of their network, thus you cannot use their service. Furthermore, the blacklist updates across all carriers, so If you attempt to sign up with another one, your device will be rejected. And the same will happen with every other phone carrier In the country where the blacklist took place.

I'm not suggesting the blacklist "will" happen, but rather the possibility exists.

what whould you suggest to do with an SE'd phone? best safe way if possible

Best practice would be to keep it offline until2 weeks after a refund is issued, and test it

and after 2 weeks turn it on, or sell it?

RE: SE question - akroma6668 - 03-27-2022

I would be incredibly weary of selling a SEed phone
