Why do people SE? - Tinytim - 01-19-2022
I said in my introduction that I'm a psychology major and I am interested in why people do this for refunds/returns like in this forums. I am thinking of writing a thesis on it. I have been reading Chris Hadnagy Art of Human Hacking and it is very interesting. I know social engineering is not all about this but I am asking about this specifically.
I saw a thread and it seems most do it for obvious reason. 1. buy things not on their budget 2. Can afford but want to save 3. The rush and the challenge. Seems most fall in 1 and 2 but serious social engineers fall into primarily 3. Also, is there specific background of people that do this? Seems people from different social status all do this.
Are there any legal problems or risks like going to jail, getting sued, etc.? I'm guessing any federal agency like USPS doing social engineering could have serious consequences. Also, what of using these receipt generators Do? Do most social engineers even think about this or they dont think ahead?
Also don't big companies use third party to black list customers on not just that specific company but all companies that use their services who return or refund too many times? Does using a virtual crejit c@rds that comes with some crejit c@rds like Citib@nk as a service really protect the social engineer from this? Or do you need to use a third party virtual crejit c@rd service? Also what about their address, names, etc? I can imagine many do not use drop houses.
Are all these services online for refund service all social engineering? I see some people guarantee up to $5,000 on Amazon for example. How do they guarantee this? Are they professionals?
I also see food services. Are there really methods that do not affect the driver and restaurant or are these just lies?

For Instance, a Cease & Desist notice can be Issued at any time with legal proceedings already In progress.

Question for @mothered, why do you participate in online dicussions as these and even give out online resources for others to read. What gain is there for you?
