1.6k laptop Ebay Currys! - ibot260 - 12-08-2021

Hi again!, I am currently trying to SE a Lenovo laptop for 1.6k from Curries store on Ebay! it was delivered a few weeks back end of November by DPD and im pretty sure they took a photo of it with other orders that came to the house before with DPD so hard to do a DNA.

I bought it through Paypal 3 month credit plan and next payment will be coming out on the 23rd.

I was thinking of doing a leaky battery method or that it was packed with something else.. not too sure on that one!

I know things have changed since last time with Ebay but Id still like to try, im just here basically to get confidence in what I will do and maybe a few suggestions!

I am currently in another country so that can help my case? do I go straight to a paypal claim or try and do the neccessary through curries and then if that fails through ebay then paypal??

Thanks everyone in advance!!

It's a bit late for the DNA, but nonetheless, where were the photos taken?

The sealed box method Is also well-suited.

Cant do the sealed box method because of having to open it to use, and I am in another country at the moment so yeah...I guess to play it safe I need to figure out what to say to go ahead with a paypal claim ..

I think the photos were taken while on the ground where they have been taken previously with many dpd packages going there which they will have to cross reference if they decide to investigate so I would not like to do the DNA method, definitely not suited for this.

As I was in a rush I didnt take time to formulate my plan enough BUT i know it can be done! just need a way to get to the paypal claim..

if I say leaked battery method and had to dispose of it ASAP when I found out ( I can say it was leaking from the package unopened and had to call services in the country Im in now to dispose of it safely? I can say this to curries through ebay website and then after that if they dont want to refund me go through ebay, and or Paypal.

FTID for a order of 1.6k or you could try EB it or something DNA will not work in this it's been a while since you received the package

If the package was left unattended, photographic evidence Is useless.

They can take 100 photos If they like, It doesn't change the fact that the package was dumped without any form of verification from the consignee - yourself.

Correct.

Don't mention that, they may request an Incident report from the entity who disposed of It.

PayPal Is always the last resort - when all else fails.

Consider It a backup plan.

Considering all the possibilities now and the time that has transpired would you say do the leaked battery method? ( it will have been 20 days now since i was supposed to receive it..)

Ill say i gave it as an early Christmas present (ill do it on Friday) they opened it, saw the bulging battery about to burst and disposed of it ASAP.
(as they had kids present).

Done. If they refuse me (curries that is) then I go through ebay, then if not, go through PayPal.

Job done i think.

Sorry for late responses, been hectic in a country with totalitarian rules!
Stressed

Given It's around 3 weeks since you've received It, the availability of methods are limited.

The leaking battery method Is certainly an option, so too Is the sealed box method - that's provided the return Is within their refund policy.

If the above fail, you can hit a credit card chargeback.

And If you're In the UK, a Section 75.

Regarding the sealed box method, I have opened and used the laptop, how would I do it if I don't have any of the packaging left?

Leaking battery method by the way I read that batteries don't actually leak but bulge (lithium) , so ill have to say something like it was bulging when opened (then started smoking) and had to dispose of it quickly because of the smoke and threat etc (act all upset etc blah blah)

And yes I'm in the UK (not currently until 15TH of January)

Regarding credit card charge back i have a debit card ans did it through Metro bank, and PayPal 3 month payment plan (soon to be second payment on 23RD.

So yeah haha, im kinda limited I would think..
But looks like it should be the "leaking" battery method then if that fails tell ebay and then if THAT fails go to PayPal.. I will definitely do it before second payment and will also take my card off PayPal (no money on it anyway) and then i will tell them I have a problem with curries and for them to wait for an answer?

As you can see situation is a bit unique.. I hope the respond in time :/ i had left it way too long, and nowni may have to resort to PayPal i think if they dint gice a quick answer for the refund.
