Help with renovation - roys35 - 12-06-2021
Hello everyone! I hope you will help me. As the winter comes, I decided to change the doors and windows in my house. It has to make my house warmer. I'm not sure what I should do. I can just buy a new door and install them or I should hire a service that can help me. Do you know what is better?

I am a licensed, bonded and insured general contractor...
I strongly recommend that you simply hire some one to do these jobs for you.
Many will tell you to tackle them yourself, but i assure you if something doesn't get finished properly you will be paying significantly more to have it done as they would have to go through and repair and replace anything you messed up upon the way.

Temporary caulking or weatherstripping might work, which wouldn't require a professional. For anything more permanent you'll probably want a professional.

To be honest, I would personally buy the plastic that you use double side tape to hang over the entire window and blow dry to shrink it.
This stuff works AMAZING and reduces heating cost.
I'd also roll up blankets and put them by the bottom of the entry doors, if possible use the plastic on any entry door not being used to seal it off and reduce and heat from escaping.

The doors are not an Issue. Provide the measurements, get them to fit the handles & locks and you'd only need to screw the hinges Into the door frame. It's significantly cheaper than hiring a tradesman.

Replacing or reconstructing a roof is a fairly expensive undertaking. The total cost will depend on the planned work's complexity, scope, and timing. The cost is strongly influenced by the quality of materials and conditions of the work. For example, my roof came out to me in a tidy sum from which I was shocked. But it was just amazing. This was an unusual shape of the roof, plus the best materials.
