SEing a job - talrodil - 11-23-2021
To get some variety into the Social Engineering forum ... was wondering, has anyone SE'd a job?
I know technically the classic job interview is pretty much the epitome of social engineering, but I mean to SE a job you're not supposed to be qualified for.
For example, I can think of plenty of government pencil pushing gigs with zero skill needed and a nice paycheck, but you gotta have the right papers to show them.

Would you scope out a good job based on personal interests / learned skills, or based on how easy it would be to fake it?

As such, the fake resume comes Into effect.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Cool stuff, I already have an industry and specific position in mind. Something that I've been studying as a hobby for almost 2 decades and have plenty of skills in, but very little proven professional background.
Was wondering about references.
One idea was to fake a job posting in the field and get people to send me their resumes and references. Then I'd take one of those people, let's say with the same first name, and pretend to be them when applying and use their references. That way the references would be legit, but it creates a bunch of other possible inconsistencies. Not least of which would be my different last name.
Ideally I'd have some trusted allies pretending to be a reference from a real company... I've seen liars for hire at "careersexcuse" and "paladin deception" etc, but not sure if they can deliver. Maybe I'll make a post on the Sinister market.

Make a fake website and put email on site for them to contact it for references.

If a company is vigilant enough to do a background check or contact references, they'll spot a fake website miles away.
I mean, if it's a fake website, you also need a fake Linkedin profile for the reference with a fake network.
Nah, it's gotta be a person (fake or real) in a real existing company.
