Mi Store SE - Isma_Sek - 09-28-2021

Hello to everyone, I'm new here and in general to se.
So basically, I'm in Italy and I recently ordered a phone on Xiaomi Store( 370€) and used the MEB method. So I sent them an email and they replied to me yesterday saying that I have to send them a police report. I read here and there that a police report is sometimes just part of the protocol, but at this point is there way to avoid that? Also, i paid with PayPal, so should I do a claim or is it too early? Thanks in advance for your responses and sorry for my broke english.

If you're referring to the manufacturer empty box method, It's not a theft-related Incident, so I don't know how they're justifying a police report.

At any rate, It's only required to move forward with your claim, so simply file It.

PayPal disputes/claims should always be used as a last resort - when all else fails.

For Instance, If your claim Is to be approved by the company, It'll be a waste of a PayPal claim.

So I actually went to police station to file the report but they told me that a report in my case isn't needed, that the only type of report that would make sense to make is a scam report against Xiaomi and that the best thing to do was to recontact the customer support.
So I replied to their email saying to them what the police told me, but they keep asking me for a report. I spent basically a whole day saying to them that the only type of report that I could file was scam report against them but it seems they don't want to understand.

I don't think the officer knows what he's on about.

If Xiaomi are trying to scam you, they wouldn't suggest to file a PR.

Get the officer's name, rank and phone number, and tell the company to contact him/her.

Alternatively, ask the officer to provide you a document stating why a police report Is not warranted under the circumstances.
