Is it worth SE Apple? - WaiterMarket - 07-21-2021

Hi everyone, so I received a Macbook Pro 16in and I was curious if SE Apple and getting the product for free will be worth it? Like I do not know if Apple will track the product and one day go after me, I cannot use Apple Care and like who knows if Apple will lock the device. Does anyone else have second thoughts on SE'ing electronics because this can happen to them?

thanks

I've yet to experience anything of the sort, nor have I come across SE'ers claiming their device being monitored- particularly years after the SE took place.

If you want to play It safe, don't use any of Apple's services on the device In question.

They cannot remotely lock the device.

They wouldnt lock the device remotely, there are tons of stolen phones always being sold to someone legit, and would completely screw the second hand market. I could imagine using it as a personal device might carry problems. Best bet is to play it safe and sell it off

@WaiterMarket, have you made a decision on your plan to SE?

yes. I will be getting a replacement for my macbook and selling the old macbook that I said didn't arrive. So that, the replacement item will be a valid item for Apple that I can use + add apple care on.

Can you expand on that? I'm in a similar boat, only that I'll get a repair sent to me.

Thank you.

When SEing Apple, they will tell you if you want a refund or replacement for your item. A replacement is an the same item shipped to you. I will say replacement, and sell the macbook that I SE'd and just use the one they sent me

If there's nothing wrong with the original (SEd) unit, why not keep It and opt for a refund?

Or do you wish to get rid of It due to your following concern? (which Is extremely unlikely, but understandable).
