MacBook SE Help - andrew1619 - 03-11-2021

I contaced Apple to tell them the my battery was swollen and likely leaking and sent them some images that they accepted. They then said that the item couldn't be mailed back and so they are sending an Apple authorised technician to come round to my house and pick up the MacBook directly. This is the only way for the process to progress they told me. Any ideas how to get around this? I wasn't aware Apple did this.

Tell them that you're not available to meet their pickup arrangement and to remain amicable and not raise suspicion, apologize for any Inconvenience caused.

Excuses to use (but not limited to) are:
  • Away for a few weeks due to work commitments.
  • Call for jury duty and required to remain Isolated as Instructed by the courts.
  • In the process of moving house, thus cannot commit to a scheduled delivery time & day.
  • Booked In for surgery as an Inpatient.

Pick one that's best suited to your environment.

This is the trouble when you tell a company too much information. It's best to keep the reason basic. I guess you were expecting a free replacement but you know what I mean. Mentioning leaked batteries will always come with trouble and companies hardly ever allow these items to be returned.

My only advice is to tell them it's stopped leaking and you are not available for any collection, and to please arrange a returns label.

If that fails then you can try the claim again on a new email/account?

The Item Is Invoiced Internally on the account on which It was originally purchased and given Its value, It's extremely likely that they'll liaise with their Invoicing department and Identify the account.
