Quote:and if it is a full proof method
It's nowhere near perfect and never will be.

If we were back In the 60s when scanning systems did not exist and carrier drivers solely relied on the shipping label to send/receive goods, then It would've worked. I think the author of the so-called FTID method, believes he's still living In that era.

yeah I don't understand how this works either, they scan the return label and have a predetermined address

The method is not perfect. But I have used the method successfully about 2-3 times, about 50% of all attempts it being successful. But the method only works if the reps don't know what they are doing. One example, I successfully SEed a Xbox Series X with the ftid method. Found a serial, registered it on Microsofts homepage and claimed it was DOA. They sent me the return label and I used a boxer and he edited the label so it was sent to another city than the service center. The funny thing is, each time I chat with the support and ask how the repairs are doing I will get different answers. One day it's in the service center, and when asking another rep the day after, they notice the delivery was wrong and it was shipped to another service center. Finally about asking 5-6 different reps they escalated the case so I was sent a replacement.

how exactly do they edit the barcode of the label? this makes absolutely no sense, delivery drivers don't use the printed address for the delivery.

If its a UPS label they simple scramble the 2d barcode, mirror it making it unreadable. your address removed, destination address changed, small barcode replaced with the tracking barcode, weight changed, description removed, references removed. The tracking will say whatever was on the original label. this is so the person in the shop, or the courier collecting it doesn't wonder why they've paid for a 30kg label.

Ups seems to be the easiest to ftid, and Dhl second. I have made attemots with Fedex and TNT. They both failed. They was delivered to the edited address but the recipent refused the accept the delivery.
