Movie Club Recommendations? - Jiggly - 02-21-2021 Where I work, my colleagues consist of a few movie nerds, and we decided to start some sort of "movie club" (for want of a better name) so that we can talk about films during the week, without worrying about spoilers. We've watched a mixture of interesting/crap titles so far, including: Whiplash (I highly recommend it, and it's available on prime), I see you, Midnight in Paris, Ghosts of War and Jungle. At some point, it will be my turn to recommend something. I'm struggling to come with an idea of a film that isn't too mainstream, so that not everyone will have already seen it, but is still a really great watch that we can talk about during the week. Any recommendations? Preferably, it's available on Netflix/Prime in the UK, but not absolutely essential, as none of us it above finding films on a dodgy streaming site. RE: Movie Club Recommendations? - 1105368 - 02-25-2021 Would suggest the following: To Live and Die in LA, State of Grace (not well known, massively underrated), The Way of the Gun, Carlito's Way, Another Day in Paradise RE: Movie Club Recommendations? - Oni - 02-25-2021 (02-25-2021, 04:06 AM)1105368 Wrote: Would suggest the following: To Live and Die in LA, State of Grace (not well known, massively underrated), The Way of the Gun, Carlito's Way, Another Day in Paradise All classics. I don't think I've seen any of these, and that makes it even better. New experience for me too! RE: Movie Club Recommendations? - Losi - 02-27-2021 My favorites: Pulp fiction, Kill Bill series, Boondock Saints, The Hateful Eight, Heat, Inception, John Wick series, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Mad Max (old and new), They Live, Point Break, District 9, Kick Ass, The Revenant, The Shining, Unbreakable, Total Recall (old one is better but the remake is still fun), Tron, Tron Legacy, Scarface, Leon The Professional, The Cannonball Run, Fight Club, Bullitt, Dirty Harry, The Blues Brothers, Memento RE: Movie Club Recommendations? - Jiggly - 02-27-2021 (02-27-2021, 03:30 AM)Losi Wrote: My favorites: Some really cracking films there! I think my colleagues will have seen most of those, but I might see what they say of Mad Max films, as I've never seen those. # I also like quite a few of those, especially the John Wick series. RE: Movie Club Recommendations? - Skullmeat - 02-27-2021 Heat, Dirty Harry, Aliens, Robocop 1 and 2, High Plains Drifter, Oblivion, Virus (1999) (Really gory, b movie, basically Aliens but on a ship with cyborgs, has some great pratical effects, worth watching for that alone) Starship Troopers, The Hunt For Red October, 007: Goldfinger, Starcrash (b movie, basically the plot of star wars but it has Caroline Munroe in a skimp outfit, and David Hasselhoff) Evolver (Mid 90s Scifi B Movie about a Killer robot toy, stars John De Lancie of Star Trek The Next Generation fame, so bad its good) The Room (So bad its good, cult classic, has to be seen to be belived) RE: Movie Club Recommendations? - BurritoBeans - 02-27-2021 Can't think of too many, haven't sat down with a movie in a good while, but
