Redo of Healer - Drako - 02-03-2021

A few days ago a new anime dropped called Redo of Healer. The reason this new anime has stirred up controversy is because of its "rapey" plot, which of course, never goes unnoticed in the West.

Since I don't know very much about the anime right now, and I've never read the manga it's based on, here's a direct quote from Redo of Healer's Wiki page: "Keyaru, who is exploited repeatedly by others due to being a healing magician, notices what lays beyond just his healing magic, and is convinced that a healing magician is the strongest class in the world. However, by the time he realizes his own potential, he is already deprived of everything. Thus, he uses healing magic on the world itself to go back four years into the past, deciding to redo everything and get revenge on the ones who exploited him". It might be a bit difficult to see how this could be a sexual plot unless you come it knowing the anime is nearly a hentai. While the MC's end goal is to enact revenge-rape on Princess Flare, the character who tortured him for 6 months, there isn't any rape to speak of. There are many sex scenes in the anime, but they're all consensual.

So far the anime has had a wonky release. It hasn't been picked up by any major platforms like Crunchyroll or Funimation so you'll most likely have to stream it from services like Youtube, adult sites, or through torrents. And at the time of posting this thread, there have only been 4 episodes released in season 1 according to MyAnimeList.

What are you guys' opinions on this series? I personally believe that more censorship is coming to the anime industry in order to appease Western audiences. Just like in Hollywood, when you make your content suitable for all cultures and nations, you can easily double your money. Since there are so few episodes available right now, it'll probably be an easy watch since I haven't had the time to watch any anime in a while.

It's on my to-watch list but I didn't get to it yet (I was preoccupied watching a Monster). Though a couple of days ago there was a discussion on one of the imageboards where it was described as a soft hentai. That being said it had too few episodes released at the time to be objectively reviewed so I didn't look too much into it.
If you do get to watch it soon it would be awesome to hear a review.

So far I've only watched Ep1 and it was pretty good. I'll have to watch a few more episodes tonight. It blurs the line between ecchi and hentai. I guess you could call it "soft hentai" since you can see naked boob during the sex scenes, but nothing else.

If I wanted a tale of revenge, I'd read Count of Montecristo. From what friends said, there's definitely depraved/sexual elements (including rape). Not exactly something I'd watch, much less in good company.

The uncensored version was the one I was told about.

I just watched Ep2 and that's where the real depravity kicks in.

According to what I've read, they managed to cram 3 rape scenes in a single episode.

In every single episode our MC is raped by women and men. I knew this anime was wild, but I didn't think it was gonna be this wild.

Very sad to hear Rape scenes incorporated into anime. This might ne inappropriate to children and adult as well.
