Boxing DHL Pickup? - taptap - 01-18-2021 How do you go about boxing a company that does DHL pickup only for returns? If I do an empty box, the person picking it up will question it. If I add some weight to match the item, when the company receives it they'll be no buddy. What are the options? I can definitely arrange dry ice. When DHL picks up do they weigh the package or they weight it back at the depot? Do they open the box and check the item when they pickup (I doubt they have time for that)? This is in the US. Unless the company has arranged Inspection of goods, they've never opened any packages. Thanks for the feedback. I am personally confident that it will be only scanned at pickup and weighed at their depot. That being said, I would imagine if they weight at the depot I would need enough dry ice to last till the depot (which might happen at the end of the driver's shift)? Moreover, you'd also need to calculate the storage time. RE: Boxing DHL Pickup? - Green314 - 01-19-2021 According to DHL's T&S they may check the contents of the package while picking it up. https://sinister.li/Thread-DHL-Return RE: Boxing DHL Pickup? - taptap - 01-20-2021 (01-19-2021, 11:00 AM)green314 Wrote: According to DHL's T&S they may check the contents of the package while picking it up. That thread definitely helped. I am confident that in my case there will be no inspection. It is a pickup from my house. I plan to seal it multiple times and if by any chance they do need to inspect it, I'm going to pass and say I have to be somewhere. I will leave a small hole for dry ice but I am still skeptical of dry ice. The item in question is about 350 grams. That is about 0.8 lbs. For it to last all day in the drivers van and still weight 350 grams at the depot I will have to pack anywhere from 5 to 10 pounds. That might seem a lot when the person picks it up. It's Impossible to calculate the "exact" sublimation with storage and transit time. As a rule of thumb, always allow more (dry Ice) than less. I don’t mind packing it. I can add 10lbs and hopefully it will still have 0.8lbs by end of day. More than 0.8lbs is also not worrisome cause I can say it was packaging and boxes I used. My thinking is when the person picks it up will they be skeptical about 10lbs when it’s only supposed to be 0.8. |
