Amazon boxing questions - porto52 - 01-12-2021

Looking at 4 items from amazon.co.uk, around 3k GBP total and 2-3kg weight. Two phones and 2 small cameras.

I have a very old account with dozens of small-ish orders on co.uk, shipped to same EU country.

I'm considering boxing it with either warehouse supplies or dry ice.

Should I try DNA if I can convince the courier to leave the package at the door without a signature?

What do I do if the boxing attempt fails? Can I still find a plausible excuse to actually return the items and get my money back?

Can I go for more than 3k GBP, or should I go for less?

One of the items is an iPhone. Would it make things easier if I avoided Apple products, since they are the #1 SE'd items.

Well that's going to be a challenge.

If you can "factory" re-seal it. It will 100% work

Do not even attempt to try to "convince" him to do that. If you really want them to try to leave it without a signature, be home, don't answer the door and see if they leave it. Worst thing you can just open door as he is leaving with your items or let them try to re-deliver next day.

If you can factory reseal them, then they have no excuse not to refund you.

I'd say less, no need to get greedy with the items.

That's just my own personal view on this.

Resealing the iPhone seems pretty hard after looking at an unboxing.

The newer models yes, they are designed to break as soon as start tearing one open.
Airpods gen2, older iphones are resealable with some shrink wrap

Edit:
Actually, you CAN re-seal the new apple watch 6 - 100% I am holding one now and it is possible.
Carefully remove the "pull" label thing off the packaging without damaging it.
Reseat the watch box with shrink film.
Slice the 6 lines/ wholes at the top and re-glue the "pull" label thing.

Not easy, but it CAN be done 100%

You will need pof shrink film, a heat gun, and an impulse heat sealer. Probably 50 to purchase the lot, but then you can hit up multiple stores for the iWatch

I'd be surprised if all those items came in the same box and delivery

Don't mention anything to the driver- It will work against you If he happens to document your Instructions.

Given It's Amazon, establish whether an OTP will be required on delivery. If not, you're good to go, Irrespective of a signature on receipt of goods. A package that's marked as delivered, by no means concludes that you personally received It.

Unbeknownst to you, a household member accepted the package and Informed you at a later time.

Return the Items thereafter.

I've seen some people say that DNA is better suited to lower price orders. I get that a lot depends on the circumstances of the delivery/order or account.

My main reason against DNA, is that I don't want to get any of the delivery guys in trouble.

I get that, but if I send a box of rocks, and Amazon says "it seems you sent us a box of rocks, no refund for you", do I still try and say "my brother/cousin/assistant sent the box of rocks by mistake, please let me send you the actual items now"?

Almost every method Is suited to low value Items, particularly those < $40.00.

The administration costs to process the claim, as well as opening Internal/external Investigations and the manpower generated to evaluate It, will outweigh the cost of the Item. As such, It's cheaper to simply approve It and deem the Item a write-off.

In terms of the DNA, that's spot-on.

Good thinking.

There's no need for that. No one In their right mind will mistakenly send a box of rocks.

If the packaging Is suitable, just use the sealed box method. It will not give them reason to check your return, hence they'll place It back Into stock and Issue a refund thereafter.

I've considered this, but It's 3-4 different items, and from my research, resealing didn't seem feasible. That's why I'm leaning towards boxing them with either warehouse supplies or dry ice.

I tried placing the order, and they are asking for a cc statement, because my cc on file had expired and I had to use a new one. I'm going to think everything over one more time and decide tomorrow if I go ahead with the order or abandon it for now.

Understood. I didn't realize you're still Intending to SE multiple Items.

Either of the above-mentioned boxing strategies will suffice.

They require a credit card statement for an active account?
