I am just curious how come when cracking a password on a website like facebook and you are attempting every singe password in your list does it lock you out or slow you down or is that bypassed somehow

Facebook has an account lockout policy In place, whereby after a certain amount of Invalid login attempts on the same account, It will be locked for a specified duration.
From a client-side standpoint, you cannot circumvent what's been Implemented server-side.
