PSA Regarding Purolator and Canada post, possibly more carriers as well - Seriium - 01-04-2021

I Received a package this morning, (Unrelated to my SEing adventures), And instead of the usual packing tape, it was taped shut with this, I just thought I'd warn you guys in case you were going to SE something from amazon, seems they've caught on and are putting in place countermeasures, This development will surely cause some trouble and make it harder. This tape (when opened) tells the carrier to examine the contents CAREFULLY, and double check instead of just refunding you.

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of all SE'ers.

It's easy to manipulate. Simply grab the exact same roll of tape, and reseal the box In precisely the same manner- making sure the adhesive residue (left from the original tape) Is fully covered.

Agreed, But the problem arises when the company has proprietary or custom tape, That would be much harder to get unless you have connections in said company or you get lucky on ebay

Once you've researched precisely how they operate and distribute their tape, simply SE the supplier for a few rolls.

I've actually put this on my "to do list" for my blog. I'll write a tutorial soon.

Interesting.
I get deliveries from Canada Post quite often. I'd say a good 10/week. I haven't seen this just yet, but I will be on the lookout!
This could be a problem.

They'd be predominantly focusing on whether the tape Is still Intact, namely the top & bottom of the box and oblivious to Its condition elsewhere.

As such, If you're boxing a small Item, carefully slice one corner of the box (where It folds In Its collapsed form), take the Item out and glue It back- not to be noticed at the collection point, yet significant enough to show that It's been tampered with when received by the company.
