Buying in bulk "Selling/Refunding" to stores. - icrimics1 - 12-29-2020

Disclaimer: This is just for fun to think about. It's not real. It's just fiction.

Has anyone ever thought about buying items in wholesale and then refunding back to stores for the profit?

I've been thinking about this for a while and theoretically, it'd work. My first thought was for groceries but the effort for profit wouldn't be worth it for me tbh. What could this work for well? Can you buy luxury goods/expensive electronics wholesale anywhere? And when refunding you wouldn't have a working receipt that'd show up in their database so you'd need to bs your way past a receipt which is doable or actually get real receipts of past purchases somehow but Idk if the risk and effort is worth it imo. You might not even need receipts once they see the items are still fully in their box looking brand new.

I'd love to hear other peoples ideas and thoughts on the matter.

On a moral level you're not stealing anymore than the shops are. The shops are buying in wholesale for cheaper and then selling to customers for a profit. I don't see it harming anyone really if I'm selling items to them.

It's crossed my mind but In my view, It complicates the entire SEing process.

Generally speaking, you'd have to search for wholesale Items, research companies (that you're planning to SE) to make sure the Items are part of their Inventory, and then go through the hassle of verifying that It's a stock Item of theirs. I'm not suggesting It doesn't work, but I'd rather use any of the traditional methods that have a proven success rate, thereby eliminate all the above and help ensure the SE runs as smooth as possible from start to finish.

I'd be Interested to read the thoughts of others.

Checking if they have items in their inventory doesn't seem that hard. I could go in to one of their stores. Buy an expensive electronic and then go to wholesalers and ask if they have this exact same electronic to purchase in bulk.

The main problem I see is when I go to return the item(s) to the store(s) they'll possibly want a receipt which I won't have. You didn't mention that in your response? Is there some full proof work around for this problem that I'm not seeing?

I certainly agree for a one-off SE.

If It's an ongoing business (so to speak) with all types of different retailers, then It will be a very time-consuming process.

I did.

The "verification" Is the receipt.

There's not a single SE that's Infallible, never has been and never will be.

In terms of In-store SEing and In the absence of a receipt, they'll give you a store credit to purchase an Item of equal value. You can then sell It at a fraction below retail cost, thus still making a profit. Alternatively, SE a high value Item and use the wrong Item received method. The Item that you've acquired from the In-store credit will be "the wrong Item"- hence 100% profit.

what you're suggestion I could theoretically do is:

I buy for example a 8k tv and get it shipped to my house using my own cc
I buy a tv the same size and weight as the 8k tv with my store cred and ship the cheaper tv to them saying "Dis Iz not 8k i want refund". I now have an 8k tv after they've refunded me.

That sounds way too risky.... When investigating they could look at who purchased the cheaper tv with the store cred and they'd see a video of my dumb ass on the security cameras purchasing it. You're probably going to recommend evasion tactics for this but eventually paranoia and guilt would get the better of me so I wouldn't do this.

I didn't suggest anything of this nature, and your choice of Item & company gateway Is Inappropriate In this case.

Put simply, do It via "another online store" with a high value Item that's very easy to SE, and also stocks the "wrong Item In-store". When they request the return, send back the "In-store wrong Item". Obviously no CCTV cameras when they process the return.

Simply get someone else (friend) to purchase It.

As such, there's no physical association to you.
